American Family Day History

American Family Day was first established in 1978, as the 14th Arizona state-recognized holiday. This was during the time that the decline of the American family began to take a great stride. The moral and ethical principles important to all children were not being instilled in their young, impressionable minds.

This decline is not the fault of parents, government, or the educational system. The ever-growing problem is with detached family structures becoming more of a problem unless an effort is made to strengthen its base, the family.

Parents need to express a genuine concern for their children in every aspect of their lives on a daily basis. However, this is difficult, for we live in a time-impoverished nation which has a direct and devastating effect on the family.
